When you’re not traveling and guests come to visit you, try to keep your avid traveler hat on and see your city or town through their eyes. Take the opportunity to do the touristy things you might not do otherwise. It’s a good chance to see your neighborhood from a different perspective – take advantage of that opportunity!
Of course you can always do the same even if you do not have guests. However, if you try a “staycation,” set some boundaries (e.g., no cooking, no cleaning, no laundry, no errands, no chores). Commit to doing all the things you wouldn’t normally do – try a new restaurant, visit a different neighborhood in your city, try a new activity, rent a Zip Car and drive your own streets in some new wheels just for fun!
If someone were to visit your city or town, what’s the first thing you would recommend?
