Alan Henry is running a cool challenge over at Lifehacker, inspiring people to find ways to use those empty gift cards you may have hanging around after the holidays. We came up with the below three travel ideas, and you can check out the rest of the ideas being submitted here.
#1: Use to store jewelry in a small space when you travel.
Be careful when poking holes in the card and avoid sharp edges. Many jewelry or gift card boxes are the perfect size for storing the jewelry-filled card, so save one of those too. You can try poking larger holes to hold cuff links, and you can wrap extra colored watch bands around the card too. Remember, varying outfits with accessories instead of more clothes saves space! (Our Packing Guide here.)
#2: Use to make your Emergency Card
Remember, everyone should have an Emergency Card, especially when traveling, and you can print your Emergency Card template here then fill out your card. The template is designed to be credit/gift card sized to conveniently fit in your wallet, so fold your completed Emergency Card around an old gift card then cover with packing tape.
#3: Use to store your binder clips while traveling.
You know we’re always going on about all the ways binder clips come in handy while traveling and that we always have them with us on a trip. Unfortunately, they often end up somewhere inconvenient where we have to dig for them, but from now on we’ll be storing them like this to find them easily!
