A Note About Affiliate Links

From time to time, we may link to a product or service using an “affiliate link,” so we want to be sure our readers know what that means.

How does it work?

When you click on an affiliate link on our page, and then purchase the product/service at the other end of that link, we receive a small “commission” on that sale.  Please note that the price of the item is not different when you use an affiliate link.  In other words, instead of the full purchase price going to the seller, a (very) small portion  instead goes to TravelMoreRoads to help us pay the costs of making this site available to you.

How will I know?

As you will see, we prefer to note when a link is an affiliate link, because we want our readers to have that information.

Is this Common?

Yes, affiliate links are used very frequently by websites (Ever see an article about the ten best types of a certain product, or a link to a product in an article?  These are very often affiliate links.)   Unfortunately, it is less common for websites to tell you that they are using affiliate links or to explain how those links work.  However, we want our readers to have that information.

Why is this important?

Again, as you can probably tell from our site and our About page, we love helping other travelers!  However, we spend much of our time and resources to help the TMR community, so any money we earn from affiliate link sales helps us to cover those costs.  So, if you do purchase a product through one of our affiliate links, a great big THANK YOU for helping to keep this site going!

Please note the context around an affiliate link in our post.  For example, you will see that in posts like Our Favorite Toiletry Kit, Packing Cubes, or Six Packing Tools Coming on Our Next Trip, we take great time and care to tell you about a product that we use regularly and have been very happy with.  In other words, we strive to use affiliate links in a way that demonstrate whether we have familiarity and experience with a product.  There may be other times where we simply link to a resource or product for you information, or as an example, so please look to the context, or ask us if you have questions.

Need more information?

If you have any other questions about our use of affiliate links or products/services that we discuss on our site, please feel free to contact us and ask.  We would also love to hear from you with any feedback about the products you purchase after seeing them discussed here.  In addition, if you are having trouble finding a travel product/service to meet your needs, feel free to contact us so we can help if we are able.

Again, our very sincere appreciation for your being a part of the TMR community and for your help in keeping it going every time you purchase a product or service through an affiliate link on the TMR site!
